I wonder how long this took him.
Amazing !
I know I’ve been gone for awhile… But here’s what I’m designing for 106 & Park’s March Mayhem Competition !
This will of course be an animated full frame. The camera will zoom in and move around various sections introducing the contestants. I’ll be sure to include the video shortly!
I really like the branding for Mazda’s new Gift of Branding Commercial. I’d describe it as being Sharp and Mystical, but yet it still maintains the holiday season feel without using the traditional red and green. Nicely Done! Now I just need to find out who the design team is that created it.
I particularly like how the designers incorporated the snowflake into the logo. It’s Nice and Sharp ! Everything here just flows so well together.
(Let me add that the package was shot well.)
(I love the use of dimension and lighting during the closing scene of the sequence!)
Check out the actual commercial under the hood.
Amazing Color Selection Web App By Adobe
I’ve been using Kuler for years. It’s a flash based color selection Web App by Adobe, that was recommended to me by a college buddy way back when. It comes in handy, during those times when I get stuck on deciding which colors will work right within a particular project.
Kuler allows it’s users to choose from custom colors created by other users, or create their own colors with the use of a dynamic and interactive color wheel. Users can also copy and paste hexadecimal values into programs like Illustrator and photo composting programs like Photoshop and After Effects. This really comes in handy!
Kuler also gives you the option to choose your colors based on an image! Isn’t that Awesome !!?
Just received my new Sketchbook and Pencil Set today !
It’s important as Designers that we draw regularly and daily if possible. Drawing is the root of good, well thought out Design and Animation and will help out tremendously when going through the pre-production stages of a project.
I received this Sketchbook and Pencil set from Amazon today. It’s been awhile since I drew on a consistent daily basis and I believe that I can take my creativity to the next level, once I begin to do so again. I’ll definitely be sure to keep everyone here posted on anything cool that I come up with… I’m excited!

Now this is what I call Design Brilliance ! …and the perfect way to honor someone !
The image above is actually an iPhone screensaver/wallpaper that’s going around on Facebook. I found it on the iPhone 4s Facebook Page. Feel free to take this and use it on your iPhone.
There’s even a campaign on FB to make this re-branding a reality, by having Apple create a limited edition: iPhone 4 Steve model, as seen below.

Great Commercial !
I saw this commercial for the first time this morning and was blown away by the amount of detail and timed accuracy involved. When I find out who the creatives are behind this, I’ll be sure to let you know. In the meantime… Enjoy!
Wacom’s new Inkling is coming !
Available mid September.
This is almost unbelievable. I almost think it’s a joke, but nope, it’s definitely not that. We now have the ability to draw on paper and see it on our computer displays.
Check out these promo videos from Wacom
What does it come with ?
Amazing !
I’m getting one.
This is Artistic Creativity that I can truly respect!
I ran into these 2 artists in Midtown Manhattan on 57th and 10th last week. They’re painting the side of a restaurant. I’ll definitely be sharing the final result with you soon! …or whenever they’re done rather, because they are definitely “in the zone” right now!
*UPDATE 8/30/11
Looks like this is really starting to come along. Not really sure if they’re done yet, but then again what artist really is ??
After a couple of weeks of creation, the wall is finally complete! Let me begin by telling you about some of the key elements I really like about this piece… First off, I really like the perspective used here. It’s as if you’re floating slightly above ground and looking off into the far distance. The floating carriage is also a nice touch. Without it, there would be no branding. The wall as a whole gives me a feel that this restaurant has a since of tradition and early 20th century values. I like the color selection of black, white, and burnt red. These colors make the wall stand out amongst other buildings in the neighborhood, without being too “Loud”. The signage was (Jake’s Saloon) was also updated as well. This compliments everything well.
If you ever need a mural done and your in the New York City area, here’s who to contact.
Well you might want to check out this free, but fantastic site that has saved my ass on many occasions.
I was first introduced to stock.xchng while still in school. I needed a couple of photos for a 4 minute piece I was putting together. A teacher suggested this site and I’ve been using it ever since…
Now, don’t get me wrong, the images on this site are decent, and will get you by, but If you truly want better quality photos this site gives you 10 additional images to choose from, from istockphoto.com that you can then of course purchase.
